Solar farm update

RES applies for planning permission for a solar farm near Stanhoe.

RES, the developer and operator of the Jack’s Lane wind farm, has submitted a planning application for its proposed solar farm near Stanhoe.

Jack’s Lane Solar Farm would be located at Hyde Park, between the south side of the B1454 Fakenham road and the east side of the road to Bagthorpe.

King’s Lynn and West Norfolk Borough Council published the application on 26 October. RES says it expects a decision in January 2016.

The project would have a generating capacity of up to 5 MW, allowing it to meet the average power demand of 1,000 homes, RES says.[1]

It would also provide community benefits worth £5,000 per installed MW (a maximum of £25,000), RES says.

Eliot Davies, RES’s Solar Developer for the project, said that at a public exhibition in Syderstone in April, half the visitors were “neutral or supportive” when asked about the project.
