Jane Hawking Talk Saturday 7th May

Jane Hawking has very kindly agreed to come and give a talk at Stanhoe Church on Saturday 7th May at 6pm, to which all are welcome! Jane’s talk is entitled “From Book to Film” and will cover the fascinating inside story of her marriage to Stephen Hawking and what happened to that story in the process of turning her bestselling memoir ‘Travelling to Infinity: My Life with Stephen’ into the award-winning film ‘The Theory of Everything’. Jane is happy to take questions following the talk and wine and canapés will be offered from 7pm to those wishing to stay on and chat with her (or each other!) afterwards. The event is expected to finish at around 8pm.

Tickets are £10, to include refreshments. Proceeds from ticket sales will go to All Saints’ Church, Stanhoe and there will be a retiring collection, at Jane’s request, for the Autism Research Trust. Payment can be made on the door but it would be really helpful to know whether you are planning to come, for catering purposes! Please call Felicity on 01485 518363 or email frlyons59@aol.com.

Stanhoe Village Screen:–

We open our Summer season with:

Bridge Of Spies (12A) (Thriller) Monday 23rd May 7:30pm.

Inspired by real events starting in 1957, during the cold war, the film focuses on James Donovan (played by Tom Hanks), an esteemed insurance lawyer and part of the prosecuting team in the Nuremberg trials. To the dismay of his family, he agrees to represent Rudolf Abel (Mark Rylance), a painter and soviet spy living in Brooklyn, who is arrested at the start of the film in a tense but one-sided game of cat and mouse. A terrific espionage drama by Stephen Spielberg.

Date For Your Diary:–
