Changes to the bin collection service:-
From 2 April 2013, the Borough Council of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk is introducing a new bin collection service. You should have received a leaflet explaining the changes, but if not, please contact the Parish Clerk on 01485 518409.
A new black 240-litre bin will replace the current black 140-litre bin (the 140-litre bin will be collected and recycled when your new bin is delivered.)
Anyone wishing to keep their existing 140-litre bin for the new alternate weekly collection, rather than receiving a new 240-litre bin, can do so.
Simply complete the online form by visiting the www.west-norfolk.gov.uk/refuseandrecycling or by calling 01553 616200.
N.B. All requests to keep the 140-litre bin must be received before Christmas.
New Year – new interests? Try the WI!:-
What we do: have a friendly meeting with social time each month on the first Thursday, usually with a speaker.
During 2012 these covered many interesting topics, ranging from an osteopath to a grower of sweet peas and a former Royal Protection Officer.
We have social chats over afternoon tea, or breakfast, and visits to places of interest. We keep the business at our meetings to a minimum.
What we don!t do;knit, sew, make jam or sing “Jerusalem”!
Thank you:-
Thank you to everyone who kindly supported our fundraising Tea and Cakes’ day on Saturday 27 October in aid of World Vision which is one of the largest child centred aid and development charities in the world. Local people came to our house through the day and sat by the fire for a chat, a cup of tea and a slice of Jane’s excellent cake. We sent £385 to World Vision and we recently received a letter of thanks from Sharon McLeod who is the charities Sponsorship Ambassador. Peter and Jane Coates
Stanhoe Village Screen:-
Friday 25 January is the next date for the film screening. Details will either be in the next newsletter or will be posted on the stanhoe.org website shortly. Tickets £5 on the door to include a complimentary drink. Doors open 7:00pm for 7:30pm start.
Brancaster Camera Club:-
We have the following meetings planned for January (weather permitting)
Tues 8 Jan: A club evening – –My best print in 2012’
Tues 22 Jan:- –An evening with Bill Day’. Bill is a popular & well known local photographer. He will bring along a selection of his prints & talk about his work.
Visitors always welcome at our club evenings. If you are interested in joining us in 2013 please contact either Wendy Calow on 01553 674725 or Jim Till on 01485 210013. We would be pleased to see you.
And finally some January ‘facts’:-
- January starts on the same day of the week as October in common years, and starts on the same day of the week as April and July in leap years. In a common year, January ends on the same day of the week as February and October, and ends on the same day of the week as July in a leap year.
- In case you’re not sure January 2013 (a common year) starts on a Tuesday and ends on a Thursday
- I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Happy 2013.
