Stanhoe Village Screen:–

We end our Summer season with:–

Spotlight (15): Monday 27th June 7:30pm – Oscar Winner for the Best Film of 2015 and Best Original Screenplay.

In 2001, the Boston Globe published a story about a local priest accused of child abuse. They then discovered many other similar stories, implicating 87 priests in the Boston area alone. This quiet, intelligent drama shows how a 4 person team put together the pieces of evidence to uncover a major scandal. This is a remarkable film, utterly engrossing from start to finish, with terrific performances from Michael Keaton, Mark Ruffalo, Rachel McAdams and Brian d’Arcy James.

Reminder:–

Bridge Of Spies (12A): (Thriller) Monday 23rd May 7:30pm.

Tickets £5 on the door to include a complimentary drink. Doors open 7pm.

For further information visit the website: Stanhoe.org (or ring 01485 518191)

Dog Fouling:–

In recent weeks, there has been a considerable amount of dog fouling around the pond area in Cross Lane which makes the job of grass cutting unpleasant and difficult. Would all residents and visitors please remember to clear up their dog’s mess. A dedicated bin for this waste is available next to the large pond on the corner of Bircham/Burnham Roads.

Brancaster Camera Club:–

Tuesday 14th June: This will be a special evening as we are hosting Tom Mackie, internationally recognised Author & Landscape Photographer.

The meeting is in Brancaster Staithe Village Hall at 7:30 pm. Doors open at 7:00 pm. Entrance will be £5 to include refreshments. Visitors are most welcome.

And finally:–

June – a Poem by John Clare

Now summer is in flower and natures hum
Is never silent round her sultry bloom
Insects as small as dust are never done
Wi’ glittering dance and reeling in the sun
And green wood fly and blossom haunting bee
Are never weary of their melody
Round field hedge now flowers in full glory twine
Large bindweed bells wild hop and streakd woodbine
That lift athirst their slender throated flowers
Agape for dew falls and for honey showers
These round each bush in sweet disorder run
And spread their wild hues to the sultry sun.
