Stay home – Protect the NHS – Save lives
Stanhoe Parish Council Matters/Reminders:–
-
Parish Council Meeting:– Another ‘Zoom’ meeting took place on March 11th - the space age is with us! You will be able to see the minutes on the Stanhoe.org website shortly.
-
Stanhoe Website:– www.stanhoe.org is a ‘cracker’ of a site, full of information on the village and goings on. An occasional visit is recommended.
Other issues discussed:–
-
Litter pickup outing/village clean:– this is scheduled for 10:30am on Saturday, June 12th. It will take no more than 1½ hours and we’ll supply bags – you’ll just need gloves. Do join us at the Reading Room/ Village Hall on Cross Lane on the day.
-
Dog contributions:– we are still encountering (that’s a nice way of describing it) on the playing field and worryingly elsewhere on the pavements etc in the village. This is not good, especially as we are still in lockdown with few outside visitors - Stanhoe, please clean up your act!
-
Agricultural traffic:– we discussed the large and fast agricultural traffic that will be coming through the village again this summer servicing the Egmere plant. This year they will have ID numbers and be limited to 15 mph in the villages. Contact us if you have any ‘experiences’ to report.
-
Resurfacing:– there will be more carriageway resurfacing in Stanhoe at the junction of B1155 Bircham Road / B1155 Burnham Road / C769 Docking Road. These works, originally scheduled for February will now take place on 16th April 2021 – you may recall receiving a letter from the Borough Council of Kings Lynn and West Norfolk regarding this. The works are to improve the carriageway surface on the junction as part of a countywide carriageway maintenance programme. The works are scheduled for one day, between the hours of 9:00am and 4:00pm. The junction will be fully closed to traffic during these times and a diversion route will be in place.
-
Contact:- As always, we would be glad to hear of any village issues you think we can help with. Please contact the Parish Clerk, Wayne Leighton on 01485 518570 or at parishclerk@stanhoe.org.
The Stanhoe Athletes?
Another update:– we walked another 5 miles or so after the last submission and before the big freeze; then we were thwarted by a flat tyre, which required two attempts at repair. However, we eventually hit the road, and have now cycled 35.6 miles, and walked 21.9, so a total of 57.5 miles this year to 12th March. Last year, of course, we hadn’t started until the 21st March lockdown, so we’re currently ahead of the game!
Stanhoe Open Gardens: Saturday 17th July 2021
Please put the date in your diary. Several gardens will be open to visit, some with stalls including tombola, cakes, plants and books. There will be cream teas at Isabel Lodge and an exhibition in All Saints’ Church.
More details to follow in next month’s Saints Alive.
Happy Easter!
