Stanhoe Parish Council Matters:–

• Stanhoe Parish Council meets at 6:00pm in the Village Hall every 2 months normally on the second Thursday, with the first meeting of 2020 on January 9th.

• To meet Transparency laws and other disclosure responsibilities as well as report our activities, we publish our documents (Agendas, minutes, projects and news etc) on Stanhoe’s ‘award worthy’ website - Stanhoe.org. The site is a project of the Stanhoe Archive and it is a treasure trove of news, history, photos, recordings, village information and news of the village’s institutions – including the Village Hall (including the cinema), the W.I., the churches, the Duck as well as the Parish Council.

• It really is a gem while providing a vital public service. Enjoy a look around this colourful site, if you can tear yourself away from the details of the Council’s activities, it’s worth the effort!

• We wish everyone Seasons Greetings and best wishes for the New Year!

Poppy Appeal:–

On behalf of the Royal British Legion we would like to thank everyone who contributed to the Poppy Appeal this year, by buying poppies from the various shops pubs and clubs or from a house to house collector or a donation at a Remembrance Service collection.

We are very grateful to our very loyal collectors but they are getting fewer, if you would like to help with next years Poppy Appeal spending an hour or two in your own village we would be very pleased to hear from you, our email address is rbl.smgreef@gmail.com. The total collected in the Sedgeford and District was £4,626.72. In Stanhoe alone it was £567.80

Money raised from the Poppy Appeal will go to help support Service Men and Women, Veterans and their families.

The Friends of Burnham Market Community Car Scheme:–

At the recent quarterly draw the lucky winners came from Holkham, Choseley, and Brancaster. This draw has a first prize of £100.

The organisers of this worthwhile scheme hope that everyone will renew their subscriptions in the next month for this worthwhile cause which provides funds towards the running of the Community Car scheme for transporting patients to medical appointments. New subscribers are always welcome.

Needles, but not for knitting!

Thursday 9th January at 2:00pm:– Nicola Porter, acupuncturist will give a talk on the history and benefits of this ancient treatment.

Visitors are very welcome; we charge just £3, to include refreshments.

Please note that the remaining WI meetings for 2020 will revert to the first Thursday of the month.

Norfolk’s Village Signs:–

Thursday 6th February at 2:00pm: Mike Weatherstone speaks on the history of Norfolk through its village signs.

Visitors are very welcome; we charge just £3, to include refreshments.

Stanhoe Village Screen:–

are pleased to announce our first two films for the Spring season which will be shown on our new ‘state of the art’ audio visual equipment. We are extremely grateful to The Borough of Kings Lynn and West Norfolk, The Geoffrey Watling Charity and The Mary Esther Hollway Trust who have jointly funded this equipment.

We start with:

Downton Abbey:– (PG) (Drama) on Wednesday 29th January at 7:30pm

The Crawley’s and their intrepid staff prepare for the most important moment of their lives. A royal visit from the King and Queen of England will unleash scandal, romance and intrigue that will leave the future of Downton hanging in the balance. A special surprise introduction will accompany this film!

Burns Night Supper

25 January will see a Burns Night supper in the Village Hall and Reading Room, complete with Scottish dancing, starting at 6:30 pm. The cost of £8.50 per person includes a main course and a pudding; bring your own drinks.
