Stanhoe Parish Council News:–

  • Compostable Food Waste Caddy Liners – There is no need to purchase compostable caddy liners anymore as any small bag, such as carrier bags, bread bags, fruit and vegetable bags and other freezer/sandwich bags can be used to line the bin or to put food waste in. Food waste should be placed in some sort of bag or wrapping before it is placed into the food waste bin, as this prevents food from sticking to the bin and keeps the bins fresher. Food not placed in some form of wrapping in the bin may result in the food waste bin not being collected.

  • Parish Maintenance Jobs - The Council has occasional need to commission further light maintenance works in the village which includes carpentry, painting, cleaning and land tending. If anyone is interested in quoting for any of this work on a case by case basis please pass your details to Wayne Leighton, Parish Clerk at parishclerk@stanhoe.org or on 01485 518570.

  • Keep in Touch - The Council would like to assist residents with respect to any issues or concerns relevant to the village. Please contact Wayne Leighton, Parish Clerk at parishclerk@stanhoe.org or on 01485 518570.

Burnham Market Community Car Scheme:–

In the January Draw of The Friends of the Burnham Market Area Car Scheme the first and second prizes went to Burnham Market and Cromer but the third prize came to Stanhoe to Mr and Mrs Austin.

A Christmas Mystery Gift:–

“We live on Bircham Road at PE31 8PT, and the postman has handed a package to me, which was addressed with only ’Stanhoe’ and the postcode PE31 8PT. The envelope contains a gift, and a Christmas card addressed ‘To Diana, from Em’. This postcode applies to a number of properties on Bircham Road, but after asking around, nobody knows of a Diana.”

“We thought that someone may know of somebody by this name to help us solve the mystery. I would be happy to talk to the lucky recipient.“ – Robert Cocks

NB. The package has now been taken to Hunstanton sorting office

New Year, New Opportunity?

To start, let me dispel two common assumptions: firstly, to be interested in, or to join, The Royal British Legion, you must be ex-Forces; and secondly, all they do is talk about their service careers, and have boring meetings. Sedgeford & District branch is unconventional and very successful, having increased membership by about 50% in the last 10 years, despite losing members who are at the upper end of the age profile. Instead of having the usual sort of monthly meeting, we gather for lunch each month, and help the local economy by sampling the many establishments around the branch. Some members were previously military, in all walks of service life; many were not, many are female, and we all enjoy each other’s company in some or all of our 12 social get-togethers each year. Anyone would be welcome to come along to lunch and meet us all a few times before deciding whether to join. The annual subscription is just £17 per year. For further information, please contact Pamela on 518033.

Stanhoe Village Screen:–

A reminder that we begin our Spring Season with:–

‘Victoria and Abdul’ (PG) biography/drama/history on Monday, January 29th at 7:30pm.

This is the extraordinary true story of an unexpected friendship in the later years of Queen Victoria’s (Judy Dench) remarkable rule. When Abdul Karim, a young clerk travels from India to participate in the Queen’s Golden Jubilee, he finds favour with the Queen. The two forge a devoted alliance that her inner circle attempts to destroy. As the friendship deepens, the Queen begins to see a changing world through new eyes and joyfully reclaims her humanity.

Tickets £5 on the door to include a complimentary drink. Doors open 7:00 pm.
