Stanhoe Parish Council News

  • Parish Maintenance Jobs:– The Council has occasional need to commission further light maintenance works in the village which includes carpentry, painting and cleaning etc. If anyone is interested in quoting for any of this work on a case by case basis please pass your details to Wayne Leighton, Parish Clerk at parishclerk@stanhoe. org or on 01485 518570.

  • Highways Work:– Some residents may have noticed that the Highways Department from Norfolk County Council have been active in the village. We have seen the road sweeper clearing leaves and debris from kerbsides, the noxious weeds opposite the Duck Inn have been sprayed and some white lines at junctions have been repainted. Further work to come is the clearing of the drainage ditches and grips in Cross Lane and along Bircham Road. In addition, the protruding planks in the palisade fence alongside the path in the Burnham Road will be removed, but not replaced, as the intention is to eventually replace the palisade fence with a more substantial barrier.

  • Dog Mess:– Some residents have complained about finding dog mess on their property and driveways; we must again request that owners ensure they pick up any mess. It’s a difficult problem for us to solve, and a lot easier for the owners/walkers involved!

  • Parish Council Meeting:– The next Parish Council Meeting will take place at 6:00pm on 11th January 2018 in the Reading Room, Cross Lane. All residents are most welcome to attend.

  • Keep in Touch:– The Council would like to assist residents with respect to any issues or concerns relevant to the village. Please contact Wayne Leighton, Parish Clerk at parishclerk@stanhoe. org or on 01485 518570.

Wedding Saturday 16th December

We are getting married in Stanhoe Church on 16th December and the reception will be held at The Grange. Guests will park on the field opposite the house so that traffic disruption is kept to a minimum. If the weather allows, there will be a five minute firework display at about 4:00 pm. For the reception there will be a band from approximately 8:30 pm to 11:00 pm and then a disco until 1:00 am when we and the guests will leave. We do hope this event will not cause too much inconvenience and your patience that night would be greatly appreciated.

The soon to be married, Sophia and Jamie.

Brancaster Camera Club

Our last meeting of the year is our AGM on Tuesday, 12th December, followed by a buffet for members & guests. If anyone would be interested in coming along to meet us you would be most welcome. Normally we meet twice-monthly in Brancaster Staithe Village Hall at 7:30pm.

For more details contact Jim Till (Chairman) on 01485 210013 or Wendy Calow on 01553 674725.

Our first meeting of the New Year is on Tuesday, 16th January when we host Derek Edwards M.C.I.F.A. who will talk on ‘Wings over Norfolk’. This lecture is illustrated with contemporary black & white photography and reviews the history of aviation and aerial photography from the late 1800’s to the early 1950’s. Visitors are most welcome.
