WI activity

Stanhoe and Barwick WI members have kept busy with walks, crafts and Zoom.

Stanhoe and Barwick WI have been actively engaging with members in recent months now that the end of lockdown is in sight.

Recently two groups of us participated in Women Walk The World afternoons with a maximum of six permitted participants on each one. The first was a short walk in Syderstone followed by tea and cake at the home of our secretary. The second was on a blustery afternoon at Burnham Deepdale where five of us accompanied by four dogs walked out along the coastal path, with beautiful views over the saltmarsh towards the sea, followed by tea and cake at he home of one of our vice chairmen. The donations from the afternoon went as a contribution to the national Associated Country Women of the World (ACWW) fund helping women in less well developed countries.

The committee have also been learning how to run Zoom meetings, and after two introductory meetings run by our president today ran a workshop for members. Our treasurer patiently took us through the stages of making two paper folded heart shaped bookmarks.

Colourful purple heart-shaped bookmark matches illustrations in a gardening book

It caused much hilarity along the way! But we were really pleased to have created an easy heart-shaped item as we have all been asked to create green hearts in any medium for a county-wide display in July. We do thank Julia for her patience and giving us such a fun May meeting.

And we all look forward to being able to meet again in person as a WI before too long.
