Thank you, Mark

Stanhoe’s village hall trustees praise outgoing chairman.

On 22 June the MEHM Trustees and guests gathered in the Reading Room to thank retiring chairman Mark Roche for more than ten years’ service to the Trust.

Mark will remain a Trustee but is handing over the role of chairperson to Laura Pocock, who praised Mark for his dedicated service. The Trustees presented Mark and Pen with a selection of plants for the garden at Isabel Lodge, their new home.

The MEHM Trust looks after the Reading Room – Stanhoe’s village hall – which was founded in 1886. Notable events during Mark’s term of office have been the purchase of the freehold of the playing field in 2015 and the transformation of the inside of the hall, with new flooring, heating, blinds and furnishings. At the celebration Jane and Peter Coates, who run Stanhoe Village Screen, confirmed that they are applying for grants with a plan to install new audiovisual equipment including a hearing loop.
