Parish Meeting

Residents thank Stanhoe’s Parish Council and Clerk for their hard work.

The Annual parish meeting took place in the Reading Room on Thursday 10 May. I was attended by about a dozen village residents, and local Borough Councillor Andrew Morrison, who met the Councillors and Clerk, and enjoyed the wine and ‘nibbles’ provided.

Parish chairman David Lord welcomed everyone, and congratulated the village Community Speed Watch team on their award earlier this year. He outlined the major topics which have to be dealt with by the councillors, and gave a brief overview of matters in hand, before inviting visitors to have a look at the displays which had been set up in support of various high-profile village activities and initiatives: Stanhoe & Barwick WI, Stanhoe Archive, and Community Speed Watch.

Visitors enjoyed chatting to each other and to the councillors, and animated discussions continued for well over an hour. A vote of thanks was proposed to the councillors and to the clerk, for all their work in keeping things running smoothly in the village.
