Victoria and Abdul is showing in Stanhoe on 29 January.

On Monday 29 January Stanhoe Village Screen begins its spring season with Victoria and Abdul (PG, biography/drama/history), the extraordinary true story of an unexpected friendship in the later years of the remarkable rule of Queen Victoria (Judi Dench).

When Abdul Karim, a young clerk, travels from India to participate in the Queen’s Golden Jubilee, he finds favour with the Queen. The two forge a devoted alliance that her inner circle attempts to destroy. As the friendship deepens, the Queen begins to see a changing world through new eyes and joyfully reclaims her humanity.

Tickets: £5 on the door to include a complimentary drink
