Flower Show results

The usual high standard from Stanhoe’s gardeners, cooks, artists and crafters.

The 2012 Stanhoe & Barwick Flower Show produced excellent entries across the board, according to the judges. Show secretary Rosemary Brown said she had been worried about the cool wet summer, but in the event the fruit and vegetables were up to their usual high standard.

The loss of some well-known village faces meant fewer entries in some other classes, notably cookery, but honour was again maintained.

Flower Show winners with their cups

The winners (l–r): Frances Ulyatt (Cookery Cup);
Roger Hargreaves (Graphic Arts Cup); Diane Punter (Ladies’ Cup); Bill Punter (Men’s Cup); Eric Jackson (Fruit and Vegetable Tankard, Cut Flowers and Pot Plants Cup); Rosemary Brown (Craft Cup). Not in the photo is Sheila Thomas (Flower Arranging Cup)

Thanks to Rosemary for her hard work and to everyone else who shifted furniture, made tea, sold tickets – and especially to those who grew, pickled, baked, stitched, painted and snapped.
