WI meets again

More garden socialising for Stanhoe WI members.

On a warm afternoon in July 19 Stanhoe and Barwick WI members and friends met in the lovely garden of member Pam Protheroe for a very friendly Garden Meeting.

The meeting was opened by Vice President Nicola Smith, who welcomed everyone and said a big Thank You by presenting bouquets to Pam for her hospitality, and to Valerie our hardworking secretary who has kept us up to date with WI news in the past year. Nicola outlined the achievements of our WI during the lockdown, and our treasurer Julia brought us up to date on subscriptions and general finances.

With the Business completed much chatting ensued amongst members and everyone was free to walk round the garden and appreciate the lovely flowers, especially the roses and delphiniums, and the fruit and vegetable beds. Pam should be proud of her garden.

It was not long before cups of tea began to appear and a wonderful array of cakes made by the committee was uncovered and everyone was invited to help themselves.

Delicious cakes and scones

As well as chattering, the WI photo book of members’ activity during the Centenary Year, and photos of the ways in which members were creative in recent months, were passed round, and a very friendly and enjoyable afternoon was had by all.
