Speed campaign
The Community Speedwatch campaign is now well under way, and several drivers will be receiving letters from the police.
On the morning of 2 September the Speedwatch team recorded close to 120 vehicles in an hour on the Burnham Market road. Six of these were doing well over 30 mph, despite prominent warning signs, and will be hearing from the police in due course.
Speedwatch patrols will now be a regular feature of Stanhoe. If you would like to help, contact (tel 518 099). More details on our Speeding page.

King's Morris
The King’s Morris made their annual visit to the Crown on Friday 29 August.
Despite the fact that it was dark when they arrived, the usual excellent time was had by all.

Treasure Quest
BBC Radio Norfolk’s Treasure Quest came to Stanhoe on Sunday 17 August.
Becky Betts of BBC Radio Norfolk came to Stanhoe on the morning of Sunday 17 August as part of the Treasure Quest programme. A small handful of local residents turned out to get very wet and meet the radio car.
In Burnham Market the team had picked up a clue that seemed to point to Stanhoe’s ancient cross. As the car entered the village, Linda Scales guided the team in the direction of Cross Lane.

And there at the base of the cross was the magic envelope! Gillian Beckett, who had put it there, explained that we have written records of a cross in the village dating back to the 1200s.
We also managed to solve the next clue, pointing the team off in the direction of Sandringham, and so felt rather smug. Luckily the radio car had disappeared by the time other people phoned in to say that we were completely wrong, and that the right answer was Dersingham. Charles Butcher takes most of the blame for this.

Flower Show a great success
The Flower Show on 2 August drew a very high standard of entries, and many visitors.
The Stanhoe Flower Show 2008 took place on Saturday 2nd August in the village hall, Cross Lane. Heavy rain in the early afternoon was no deterrent, and this must have been one of the most successful Flower Shows in recent years.
Our thanks go to Rosemary Brown for organising the event, to the judges, to everyone else who helped with the arrangements, the visitors, and everyone who entered their flowers, fruit, vegetables, produce, handicrafts and artwork.
