Dick Calver riding a pig at Station Farm, Stanhoe in 1937. Five years later he was called up in 1942, and joined, after training the 4th and 7th Royal Dragoon Guards. He did his first fighting on D-day in 1944. He was seriously injured by fire in a tank, with burns to his face and hands.
