Chris Branch says in 2011:
I have referred pretty well throughout to my mother Iris Mignon Calver as “Miggie”. In French Mignon means “Little one,” and she was the shortest Calver, and the last child to be born to Thomas Henry and Edith Amelia Calver (my grandparents). Sadly Edith died in 1936 some 10 years before I was born.
We have already mentioned Grandad’s cow, a Jersey milking cow, and I fancy this was her before she contributed her rich creamy milk to the Calver diet for years to come.
