Guy Cross (1884–1955) retired to Stanhoe in the 1930s, living at Ivydil in Cross Lane.
He and his wife had been teachers in London. Both were active in village life.
Guy Cross was a churchwarden and chorister.
There is an oak reredos dedicated to his memory in the church.
