Thursday 3rd August at 2:30pm:– monthly meeting – a textile conservation expert from the National Trust.

Wednesday 9th August:– afternoon visit to East Ruston Old Vicarage gardens. Transport details still to be confirmed; please contact Valerie (576261) or Pamela (518033) for more details.

Monday 14th August:– workshop in Syderstone to make a fabric necklace.

Thursday 17th August at 2:45pm:– afternoon tea at Barnfields, Castle Acre.

Parish Council News:–

  • Speed Awareness Message (SAM 2) Sign:– The Parish Council has now placed an order for the purchase and installation of a SAM 2 sign.   Installation is likely to be in the next 10 – 12 weeks.   Locations for the SAM 2 sign (two on Docking Road, one on Burnham Road and one on Bircham Road) have been agreed with the Highways and fixtures will be to existing traffic sign poles. Updates will appear in future editions of Saints Alive.
  • Parish Council Meetings Amendment:– Please note that the start times for the rescheduled meeting dates are 7:00pm and not 6:00pm as previously stated. Apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused.
  • Go to Town Bus:– The Parish Council are pleased to report that with effect from 4th September 2017, Stanhoe will be added to the route for the Go to Town Bus Service. Further details to follow shortly.

Stanhoe Gardens Open Day:–

A most successful Gardens Open Day was held on Saturday June 3rd, the weather was perfect, drawing a record number of visitors to the village. The splendid total of £2,795.50 was raised for church funds. The PCC is extremely grateful to all the garden owners, to all those who helped in any way and to all the people who visited the gardens and helped to make it such a happy occasion.

Stanhoe Carboot Sale:–

Do come to buy and sell on Saturday 19th August on the Village Hall Playing Field in aid of MEHM.  Traders £5, booking not necessary. Entrance and parking free. Enquiries to Pen Roche, 01485 518324.

Stanhoe & Barwick Wi Cake Stall:–

Our annual cake stall will be set up opposite the pond for 11:00am on Friday 25th August. We use this to raise funds for our own WI to help to pay for speakers, the use of the Reading Room, and such local expenses. Cakes (and other goodies, sweet or savoury) are all home made by our members – there will also be produce from the garden and home made preserves. Be there early – we always sell out!

John Wright’s Charity Awards:–

The trustees of John Wright’s Charity are pleased to say that the Awards of book tokens have been made to young people of primary school age living in the village.

They would also like to that that Awards are also available to help with the cost of books, equipment, and uniform for older students enrolled on College courses. Please contact the chairman of the trustees, Mrs Valerie Shackcloth if you wish to be considered for a student award. Receipts are usually required for reimbursement.

Docking Rangers Football Club:–

Docking Rangers FC are looking for new players to join their U14’s team for next season. Anyone (boy or girl) who will be in year 8 or 9 at school in September is eligible to play.

Brancaster Camera Club:–

Brancaster Camera Club’s Annual Photographic Exhibition will take place in Brancaster Staithe Village Hall on 11th, 12th& 13th August from 10:00am – 4:00pm daily. This year it will be judged by Ann Miles FRPS, MPAGB, EFIAP, FBPE. Entrance is free & refreshments will be available.

Please come along & see the work that we do throughout the year. We especially welcome any photographers who may be visiting the area.
