Stanhoe Gardens Open Day:–

Saturday 3rd June 2016 - would you like to get involved?

This increasingly popular village event will take place on the afternoon of Saturday 3rd June, 2:00–5:30pm.  Seven or more gardens will be open, with stalls, activities and teas available to visitors.  Last year nine gardens were open and more than 220 people visited, many commented on the friendly welcome they received.  This is made possible by the enthusiasm of the many volunteers who offer their time for the afternoon but we always need extra helpers! If you can spare some time to help man a stall or serve teas we would love to hear from you.  Please call Felicity on 01485 518363 or Pen on 01485 518324.  Proceeds from the day will go towards ongoing repair works to All Saints’ Church. Thank you!

John Wrights’ charity:–

The Trustees of John Wrights Charity are once again giving Awards of book tokens to any young person of primary school age who has lived in Stanhoe for more than one year. Please pass on the name of any eligible young person to Elspeth Adams on 01485 518327.

Under MEHM Trustee Mrs Jill Husselby’s direction & with the assistance of a grant from Jacks Lane Wind Farm fund, the MEHM Trust are delighted to report great progress with the refurbishment of the Reading Room including new upholstery & covers, redecoration to a new colour scheme, new furniture & blinds, mirrors & Stanhoe Archive photographs. A transformation!

The Reading Room is now open again for the weekly Tuesday coffee mornings & monthly film nights. Meantime all are invited to a village celebration & bonfire party at the Reading Room & on the playing field at 6:30pm on Saturday 29th of April next.

Construction of the Bonfire on the playing field has already begun - your garden waste bonfire contributions are gratefully received by Trustee & bonfire organiser Roddy Rowe!

Easter at Stanhoe Methodist Church:–

Good Friday, 14th April:– In the morning, we shall be welcoming a contingent of mainly student pilgrims, part of the Student Cross organisation, who will be setting out from Leicester the previous weekend, to walk to Walsingham and, after spending the previous night in Docking, will come to us at about 10:00am for a short time of refreshment and a time of worship. This is always an inspiring visit for us in the congregation, and any support will be welcome.

At 2:00pm on Good Friday afternoon we shall be holding a quiet devotional service, led by Local Preacher, Sheila Johnson, and this will be followed by a time of fellowship, when we shall be serving tea and Hot Cross Buns. All are welcome.

Easter Sunday, 16th April:– Our Service of Holy Communion at 11:00am will be led by our own minister, Rev. Steve Oliver. Again, all are welcome.
