On Friday 7 July Stanhoe Village Screen starts its autumn season with Viceroy’s House (12A, history/drama).
The final Viceroy of India, Lord Mountbatten, is tasked with overseeing the transition of British India to independence. Seventy years after the partition of India, director Gurinder Chadha (Bhaji on the Beach, Bend It Like Beckham) delivers this poignant tribute to the millions of Indians who were uprooted or killed in what remains the largest mass migration of people in history.
