Gillian Beckett

New obituary highights Gillian’s botanical fame.

When Gillian Beckett died in August 2016 we published a short appreciation of her great contribution to Stanhoe in several fields.

Now the Botanical Society of Britain and Ireland (BSBI) has published a much more detailed obituary that centres on Gillian’s talent and dedication as a botanist.

With the BSBI’s kind permission we have re-published this in the “People” pages of stanhoe.org’s local history section. Click here to read it.

We thank Frances Schumann, Tim Doncaster and their BSBI colleagues for their hard work.
