Stone Curlew

Both Montagu’s Harrier and the Stone Curlew (photo) are rare species whose breeding prospects could be damaged by the Jack’s Lane and Chiplow wind power projects, the public inquiry heard on Wednesday.

According to the Lynn News, Dr Anthony Prater told the inquiry that both species are found close to the proposed sites.

Dr Prater is an ornithologist giving evidence on behalf of protest groups CAPE and ATAC.

The UK has fewer than 350 breeding pairs of Stone Curlew and just 15 pairs of Montagu’s Harrier, the inquiry heard.
