Noise alert

Loud party at the Duck next Tuesday will be a one-off, says landlady.

A private function at the Duck Inn on 30 August won’t set a pattern for future late-night events, Sandy Butcher says.

The pub will be closed for the evening as Sandy and her partner Berni Morritt hold a party to mark Sandy’s birthday and as a thank-you to the contractors who have been working to enlarge the kitchen, among other changes.

But the couple and their manager William do not plan to hold any other late-night events, Sandy says. Instead, she hopes the winter will see more locals coming into the Duck for a drink.

stanhoe.org will be covering recent changes at the Duck in more detail soon.
