It’s gone dark!

Google Maps takes a gloomy aerial view of Stanhoe.

The latest Google Maps aerial view of the Stanhoe area

Google Maps has recently updated its aerial view of north-west Norfolk — and it’s not a pretty sight.

The latest photos of the area from Hunstanton to Burnham Overy, as far south as Bircham Newton and South Creake, were taken in poor light with patches of cloud.

The image above shows the boundary between the old sunny aerial photos and the dingy new view. Because the cloud casts shadows, most of Stanhoe looks as if an eclipse is in progress.

I think the photos must have been taken in autumn 2009 or 2010. Let us know if you spot any clues to the date.
