Win a meal
It’s the Duck!
Update 7 May: Stanhoe’s pub is now officially the Duck Inn. See our news story for details.
Stanhoe’s Crown Inn is to get a new name, and landlord Julian Rivett wants your suggestions.
He is offering a meal for two to anyone who can come up with a winner. The perfect name might reflect Stanhoe’s history or character — the Flat Duck is his own joky suggestion — but Julian is also keen to remind visitors that Stanhoe is not far from the sea. “What about something connected to birds, for instance the Oystercatcher?” he suggests.
Back in January we reported that a change of name might be on the cards. Julian confirms that he is keen to distance his pub from the two Crowns and one King’s Head operated by the Flying Kiwi. He also says that a new name will emphasise the extent of the changes he is planning for the pub.
Send your suggestions to (tel 01328 738570) or and we’ll post them here, with acknowledgements.
