A planning application submitted on Christmas Eve shows how the revamped Crown Inn might look when it re-opens at Easter.

Looking from the road, the proposal is to build a new single-story extension on the right-hand side to replace the existing outbuildings. The extension will have wooden cladding above a red brick plinth, and a pantile roof. According to the architect it will somewhat resemble the barns which used to be attached to the pub.

The main entrance will be from the car park, and the existing entrance will become an emergency exit.

The planning application emphasizes the brewery’s wish to keep the Crown as a village pub while making sure that it pays its way. The new pub should provide two full-time jobs, plus eight or ten part-time jobs in the summer, Elgoods says.

You can see the full application details, including floor plans, on the Council’s planning website.
