Old Stanhoe photos

Stanhoe Archive has around 1,000 old photographs, documents and newspaper clippings. Click on the picture below to view our albums (opens in a new window).

We have been publishing photos on the web since November 2009, and during that time the collection has moved home several times. In June 2011 the collection moved back to stanhoe.org, and this time we think we have got it pretty much right — but there is still plenty of work to do:

  • a lot of captions are incomplete and some are almost certainly incorrect;
  • most of the images have some tags to help with locating specific subjects and date ranges, but again these are incomplete;
  • many images do not yet have a date range assigned;
  • there are still a few duplicates;
  • most of the images still need work to improve their quality.

How can I help?

  • You can add comments and caption information. Just click the “Add a comment” button beneath every photo.
  • If you join Stanhoe Archive we can set you up with the facility to edit photos directly on the website.
